Take Care of Yourself
Live the Healthy LifestyleThe dominant motive of every human being is a desire for perfect health and life, along with a few other earthly treasures. Temple Restored Ministry encourages, promotes and teaches the importance of having health of body, mind and spirit.
"Since the mind and the soul find expression through the body, both mental and spiritual vigor are in great degree dependent upon physical strength and activity; whatever promotes physical health, promotes the development of a strong mind and a well-balanced character. Without health no one can as distinctly understand or as completely fulfill his obligations to himself, to his fellow beings, or to his Creator. Therefore the health should be as faithfully guarded as the character. A knowledge of physiology and hygiene should be the basis of all educational effort." Education 195 |
Too little attention is generally given to the preservation of health. It is far better to prevent disease than to know how to treat it when contracted. It is the duty of every person, for his own sake, and for the sake of humanity, to inform himself in regard to the laws of life and conscientiously to obey them. All need to become acquainted with that most wonderful of all organisms, the human body. They should understand the functions of the various organs and the dependence of one upon another for the healthy action of all. They should study the influence of the mind upon the body, and of the body upon the mind, and the laws by which they are governed." Ministry of Healing 128
Although most people would tell you it is normal to be healthy and abnormal to be sick, at the same time because they have experienced more illness than health they begin to tolerate and accept their physical discomforts as normal. This habitual practice of acceptance leads to chronic disorders and disease. It should be clearly understood that disease is only present in the absence of health, and develops when we fail to maintain health.
Health of body, mind and spirit is man's natural estate and is his heritage. He should be able to pursue his experience in this life without the necessity of fighting off diseases continually to keep from losing his body. The fountain-head of perfect health and freedom lies only in one direction and that direction is straight back to the arms of "Mother Nature."
Natural laws are the foundation of health. Because we have lived so many years under unnatural conditions and strayed far from the paths of nature, it is the last thing we think about. Lifestyle habits that incorporate natural laws into your daily practices enhance the immune system and keep the body, mind and spirit in proper functioning order. Proper lifestyle habits exert a healthy influence on the blood, and both life and health are dependent upon good blood. All organs, cells, and tissues are cleansed, fed and maintained by the blood. Blood is the requisite to life, and it follows logically that it must be the requisite to health. The Word of God teaches; “For the life of the flesh is in the blood:” Lev. 17:11.
When we learn the laws of nature, we find that disease is caused by (1) Ignorance of the laws of life. (2) Negligence of the rules of healthful living. (3) Willfulness in living for pleasure and passions rather than for a clean life which will give us a body through which to correctly experience life. By ignorance, we fail to give the body the vital elements necessary for the maintenance of perfect health. By negligence, we fail to realize that it is not so much the quantity of food we eat (although it does cause obesity and ill health) but the quality of food we eat and the incorrect combinations of those foods, which causes ill health; we also disregard the laws of personal hygiene. By willfulness, we know that certain practices and habits are vicious, including wrong food and drink and yet we persist in their indulgence for the so-called pleasures it give us. Ignorance, negligence and willfulness should be replaced with education, diligence and obedience to the laws of health.
