the last wishes of alexander the great

On his death bed, Alexander summoned his army generals and told them his three ultimate wishes:

1. The best doctors should carry his coffin.
2. The wealth he has accumulated (money, gold, precious stones) should be scattered along the procession to the cemetery…
3. His hands should be let loose, so they hang outside the coffin for all to see.

One of his generals who was surprised by these unusual requests asked Alexander to explain. Here is what Alexander the Great said:

1.     "I want the best doctors to carry my coffin to demonstrate that in the face of death, even the best doctors in the world have no power to heal."
2.     "I want the road to be covered with my treasure so that everybody sees that material wealth acquired on earth, will stay on earth."
3.     I want my hands to swing in the wind, so that people understand that we come to this world empty handed and we leave this world empty handed after the most precious treasure of all is exhausted, and that is: TIME.”

Friends, we do not take to our grave any material wealth. TIME is our most precious
treasure because it is LIMITED. We can produce more wealth, but we cannot
produce more time.

When we give someone our time, we actually give a portion of our LIFE that we will never take back. Our TIME is our LIFE!

The best present that you can give to your family and friends is your TIME.

  May God help you to give the best of your TIME to Him and to those who need it the most.

SIGHT - Look like a Christian.

SOUND - Sound like a Christian.

TASTE - Eat like a Christian.

TOUCH - Reach out and touch other people.

SMELL - Smell like a Christian.

SIGHT - Look like a Christian in dress, demeanor, and disposition.

"Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment." Ecc. 9:8
"Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4) But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price." 1 Peter 3:3, 4

SOUND - Sound like a Christian. Loan your ear to hear the word of God.

"Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." Col. 4:6
"If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God..." Col. 3:17a
"While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation." Heb. 3:15
"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." Rev. 3:13

TASTE - Eat like a Christian.

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Cor. 10:31
"Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 5) Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's." Psalm 103:1, 5
"And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you." Lev. 11:7
"...Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off." Lev. 17:14

TOUCH - Reach out and touch other people with gentleness, kindness and love. Touch Jesus and be made whole. Christians should not touch things that are unclean.

"But as touching brotherly love ye need not that i write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another." 1 Thes. 4:9
"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye." Col. 3:12, 13.
"For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole." Matt. 9:21
"...It is good for a man not to touch a woman." 1 Cor. 7:1
"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you." 2 Cor. 6:17

SMELL - Smell like a Christian. Anoint yourself with oil (not animal attractants or artificial scents).

"All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad." Psa. 45:8
"But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face." Matt. 6:17
"Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment." Ecc. 9:8
