The Christian and that Indomitable Spirit
"indomitable- not easily discouraged, defeated or
subdued; unyielding; unconquerable" Webster
Christ was not a quitter. Of our determined Savior it was
prophesied: "He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he hath set
judgment in the earth..." Isa. 42:4 Though He daily carried a
heavy burden for souls, He labored steadily and cheerfully, though
enemies dogged his steps and His close friends often failed Him.
Knowing that He was marching into the eye of a terrible storm,
He explained to His disciples with steely purpose:"...that he must
go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief
priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third
day."
This is the spirit that every
Christian must bring to the battle
of life. In their warfare against
sin, self and Satan... in the
battle against ignorance and
indolence they must bring an
indomitable spirit.
Should Christians Meet Difficult Task in
a Different Spirit from Unbelievers?
YES! The Bible says: "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1Thes. 5:18
DETERMINATION by Sam Jones
"The longer I live, the more I am certain that the great difference between men --between the feeble and powerful, the great and the insignificant-- is energy, invincible determination-- a purpose once fixed, and then death or victory. That quality will do anything that can be done in this world, and no talents, no circumstances, no opportunities, will make a two-legged creature a man without it. There are hindrances without and within, but the outer hindrances could effect nothing if there were no inner surrender to them. Fear of opinion, timidity, dread of change, love of ease, indolence, unfaithfulness are the great hindrances." Sam Jones
Never Say Fail
Keep pushing-- 'tis wiser than sitting aside
and dreaming and sighing and waiting the tide.
In life's earnest battle they only prevail
who daily march onward and never say fail.
With an eye ever open, a tongue that's not dumb,
and a heart that will never to sorrow succumb,
You'll battle-- and conquer, though thousands assail;
How strong and how mighty, who never say fail.
In life's rosy morning, in manhood's firm pride,
Let this be the motto your footsteps to guide:
In storm and in sunshine, whatever assail,
We'll onward and conquer, and never say fail.

The Christian should be
especially determined in
his efforts to cooperate
with God in having his
character remade into His
likeness. By prayer, study of
the Word, self-examination
and the correct exercise of
the will --the power of
choice-- man can be
recreated into a holy
temple "...being built
together for a dwelling
place of God in the Spirit."
NKJV (See Ephes.2:19-22)

King salmon hatch in fresh water, spend part of their life in the
ocean, then return to the fresh water stream where they were born
to spawn (they die after spawning). Some salmon travel more
than 2,000 river miles over a 60-day period to reach their home
streams. Salmon do not feed during this freshwater migration,
and their condition gradually deteriorates as stored body
materials are used for energy and the development of
reproductive products. God has put it within these wonderful fish
to have a steely purpose and an unyielding determination.
Christians should have a similar commitment in fulfilling their holy
purpose in life.
